I slept in today.
Finally! With a job that starts at 5am most mornings my body clock kind of has me whipped, even on weekends when I don’t work. While lying there, enjoying my morning coffee and a local magazine called Mint, I thought to myself, “This brings me joy. It gives me a sense of well-being and happiness.” And so begins today’s blog on wellness!
5 Things I Do To Increase Wellness:
- Sleep in. Even if I don’t sleep past 5am, I go to bed early enough to get from 7-8 hours. It is critical for recovery, brain functioning, alertness, and productivity to name a few benefits. I love sleep. It is my boyfriend.
- Exercise regularly. Exercise naturally increases serotonin, that ‘feel good’ chemical in our brain. If I want to feel well, I must move daily.
- Hike in nature. I can’t even handle how amazing the aroma is out in nature. I mean really all I have to do is go into the mountains and inhale deeply and I am transformed. I love it, it fills me. It brings me joy.
- Share a meal. Last night we had an wonderful pre-Christmas dinner at a friend’s house. The laughter, the conversation, the delectable food, all of those moments increase my well-being. I am engaged body, mind and soul.
- Listen to interviews and podcasts. This past year I decided that I would wean out the majority of my Netflix time and replace it with learning. I still watch Netflix, but I was spending far too much free time just zoning out. Right now I’m listening to The Nutrition Diva, Chase Jarvis -30 Days of Genius, any Seth Godin interview and Marie Forleo.
Those are some of the things that I like to do on a weekly basis to increase my well-being. How do you increase yours? I would love to hear in the comments below!
