I believe that everyone has something that is unique to them. There are very few skills and abilities that are not shared by thousands, and still, no one will express their creativity and abilities quite the way YOU do.
I want to introduce today’s guest blogger, Laurie Bowman. Laurie is a designer/entrepreneur and owner of Inside Out Design and Bowman Greenhouses. Below are pictures of her art and her story on how she believes that tapping into her creative side improves her wellness greatly. When she creates, there is a sense of joy, wonder and happiness, reminiscent of the feelings on Christmas morning. When we tap into our creative side, it’s like a little bit of Christmas everyday.
Laurie: Creativity is a major factor that leads to wellness in my life. As a mom, wife and entrepreneur I rely on my creativity as a mechanism to improve my overall sense of wellness, as it is all too easy for me to get lost and forget about myself with such a demanding and often hectic schedule. By tapping into my creative side at work as a commercial designer, I always experience a feeling of freedom and exhilaration.
“I feel as though each project I work on leaves a residual creative imprint.”
It is fulfilling for my soul to know that I am making or planning something that will bring another person a sense of enjoyment and happiness. The energy and excitement that is generated during the process of working in a creative environment contributes to my wellness long after the project itself ends. I feel as though each project I work on leaves a residual creative imprint that allows me to reflect back and helps me to relieve stress and increase positive emotions long after the project has been installed.
“I truly feel that allowing myself the time to be creative helps me to problem solve in a very unique way.”
