A big part of wellness that most people don’t like to talk about (myself included) is our sexual health. Being married almost 24 years, that subject has come up a few times!

I don’t claim to be an expert in this field whatsoever, but over the years we have journeyed around this subject and I’ll tell you that we found a lot of answers to some of our deepest questions through an expert named Esther Perel.

Questions like: How do we sustain desire in a committed relationship? How do we reconcile our need for security and our need for adventure? At what point do we shut ourselves off from our partners?

It’s a very vulnerable spot being open about such an intimate subject! Over the years of talking to friends I have realized that it can be a subject in our relationships that we either avoid, or that we can educate ourselves about and learn something.

That being said, I encourage you to watch this Ted Talk with Esther Perel. She also has a wonderful book called Mating in Captivity. Her research has opened my eyes to thinking about sexuality in a different way. If you need this in your life right now, take 20 minutes and have a listen.
