One of the ways I love learning is through YouTube interviews and podcasts.  I feel like this is such a great way to stay up to date with current research and new discoveries, especially as it relates to health! One of the people I have listened to for years now is scientist Dr. Rhonda Patrick, an American biochemist who has done extensive research on aging, cancer and nutrition. Her groundbreaking work includes studies of how vitamin and mineral inadequacies impact metabolism, inflammation, DNA, and aging, and whether supplementation can reverse the damage.

One of the things she has been talking about lately is sulforaphane and its effects on cancer, mortality, aging, cardiovascular disease and the brain. Broccoli sprouts are 40x more potent in sulforaphane than broccoli itself.  She actually has a whole sprouting guide on her website so if you want more details on the ins and outs of growing your own sprouts, click here.

This is such a simple process and the benefits are so immense! Start today and in 5 days, you’ll be improving your health quotient. Order below:

Broccoli Sprout Kit

Broccoli Seeds

Day 1

In your jar, add 2 tablespoons of broccoli sprout seeds. Cover with water and let sit in a cool, dark place overnight (or 8 hours).

Day 2

When you wake up in the morning, drain the seeds with your mesh lid on top. Rinse one more time with cool water and this time, tilt your jar on an angle to allow all the water to drain. You’ll repeat this process 2x daily.  I do it when I wake up, and then again at dinner time. you will do this for 5 days in a row.

Day 3

Rinse and drain twice.

Day 4

Rinse and drain twice.

Day 5

Place near sunlight to add chlorophyll. One of the tips I just learned from Rhonda Patrick recently, was that in order to make these sprouts the most bioavailable you can, on the last day you need to pour hot water (70 degrees Fahrenheit) over the sprouts and let them sit for 10 minutes. After that, drain them and let cool before storing in the refrigerator.
